Regarded as one of the driving forces in the development of retail financial institution investment programs, Mr. Werlin is a frequent industry speaker, author and a nationally known authority on the financial institution investment program marketplace. He formed Human Capital Resources, Inc. in 1995 to help financial institutions, broker\/dealers, third-party marketing firms and product manufacturers recruit, select, retain, motivate, compensate employees and provide a wide range of consulting and management training services.Human Capital Resources is the only recruiting and consulting firm of its kind, focusing on the needs of the bank investment program marketplace. HCR's clients include banks, third-party marketing firms and product manufacturers that distribute through financial institutions. With their strong knowledge of sales management in the bank investment program market, HCR also provides a wide range of sales, sales management, business and strategic planning workshops. Among the programs available are: “Successful Hiring”, “Strategic Wholesaling”, “Top Producers- Staying on Top”, and “Managing Top Producers”. In its consulting services, HCR provides help in areas such as compensation planning, product selection, strategic planning and third-party marketer selection.Mr. Werlin began his career in E.F. Hutton & Co.'s management training program in 1978. He was one of the original founders of INVEST Financial in 1982, the first organization to provide securities programs to financial institutions. At INVEST, he held various positions including Executive Vice President and Corporate Treasurer. In 1989 he became President of United Pacific Financial Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of United Pacific Life Insurance Co., part of the Reliance Group. At UPFS, Mr. Werlin was responsible for all aspects of this third-party marketing firm, including the development of the industry's first variable annuities-only distribution program. Mr. Werlin also held an executive management position at Wall Street Investor Services in New York and was involved in this firm's securing the American Bankers Association endorsement. In 1993, Mr. Werlin joined Robert Thomas Securities, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Raymond James Financial as Executive Vice President.A frequent author, Mr. Werlin's articles have appeared in Bank Investment Representative, American Banker, US Banker, Bank Securities Journal and he was a featured regular contributor to Bank Investment Marketing.
