I am studying for the CFP exam now.   I have both  the College For Financial Planning (CFFP) and the Dalton Review books.   The Dalton Review  "____ Planning Pre-Study Material" books are much more comprehensive than the CFFP materials.   I do not think I would be well prepared for the test using the CFFP only.   I think the CFFP is just too brief.      The Dalton live review is like drinking from a fire hose.   You better know the material before attending a live review or you will be wasting your time.   The live review helps but  I think you still need to read, study books, and work lots of test questions.   My practice test score increased by 15% after the review but I am very sure that my reading and studying is an absolute necessity.   For example,  before the review ones's test score might be 55%, after review test score 65%, but the passing score is 70%, so the only way to get a passing score is to study the books and do practice tests.
I estimate that the review with its pointers and tips gained from the review is worth around 10% on the test.  If I did the live review 3 times, I suspect that I would still only improve by 10%.       A benefit of the live review is that when you feel burnt-out of studying alone, the live review get you more focused on learning.   I hope that my opinion may help someone.
