I'm looking for ways to market myself. I'm a vetern that just changed firms. I'm considering direct mail, newspaper ads and flyers. Going door to door with flyers, as well as a billboard. Any feedback for what is the best bang for the buck?

Pam,

Obviously, it depends on your business. I'm an advisor to my clients who are primarily retired and I find that seminars are the best, and direct mail works well also.

Best of luck!

To follow up with Michael, it is whatever works best for you and your prospective client base. After 15 years in the business, this is what works best for us:

1) Press Kit-Articles
2) Press Releases
3) Client Weekly Promotions
4) Direct Mail
5) internet

I'm researching marketing (advertising) being used by financial advisors - specifically independent brokers.
Is there anyone here willing to help with the research?

What I need is to understand how you market on the internet, banners, ads through newsletters online etc, how effective are they and what restrictions are you under for advertising in this medium.
Also, I'm curious about how you advertise your seminars.
Where do you find the research information to reach the target audience you are looking for?

My reason for this reasearch is to help improve the advertising vehicle for brokers by understanding your needs, wants - a wish list and what works and what doesn't.

You may email me directly if you wish.

Thanks in advance,

Jan

P.S. I'm not looking for a book on this information but rather a more personal perspective by those in the field.

Take a look at Millenium. I have and I will be starting a promotion with them in February coordinating with the opening of a new office on Long Island in New York. The URL is:http://www.milladv.com/

Blogs and advertising are great methods.
Social media including LinkedIn could be a great way to network as well.

Blog and article writing is a good measure to market yourself. And yes, press release is also an excellent tool.
