on-line FP meetings
I am curious about feasibility of having an on-line meetings, (AKA webinar, web conferencing) directed at people living in my community. The on-line meeting software/service cost ranges from cheap to free. The biggest burden (problem, expense) would be to promote-advertise the meeting. I was thinking of having weekly meetings concerning one topic in financial planning, such as, disability insurance, asset allocation, life insurance, 401(k)s, mutual fund expenses, ETFs, bonds, etc. I thought about having a short presentation (around 20 minute) followed by a 40 minute discussion, for a total of 1 hour weekly meeting. Conduct meeting from around 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday nights.
Has anyone tried this???
How do you advertise for the meeting???
Would people have an interest in tuning in ???

Re: on-line FP meetings
Several of our affiliated producers are actively using online meetings successfully. In fact, the same vendor we use for our weekly online web training sessions we conduct for Long Term Care planning has a similar tool meant more for one on one (or smaller group, at least) online meetings (Go To Meeting - they are advertsing more and more lately). Expense is, in my view, very reasonable. You can get a 30 day free trial and the subscription is only, I think, $59 per month...

I think the true cost is your time and conversion rate. Sounds like people use it pretty successfully. My question how do you actually follow up to convert participants into clients.
