Depends a lot on where you are currently. If you have a lot of structure in your existing organization, you will find the expanded optons to be a great strength and a significant challenge. Doing business with multiple organizations requires learning their processes and they will all be a little different. Good luck.

Re: Thinking About Going Independent?
The most formidable obstacle was not really an obstacle. I underestimated the costs associated with the indy side. Tech fees, Transaction costs, new hardware, software (wow). It was not a deal-breaker but it certainly was not what I projected.
The other things to consider are the learning curve for new processes and procedures. The amount of self-discipline to keep up with different companies and ways they do business. I am dually licensed so I had to learn 2 new platforms (transactional and RIA).
Of course, moving the clients is never a fun chore but it doesn’t really take too long.
I went on my own 3 years into the business and I never looked back. Best decision I ever made. I just have to keep myself moving forward. That is the hardest thing now. Lovin’ every minute.
