Brown Advisory, a Baltimore-based independent investment management firm, hired Christopher Bartlett as a partner in its Baltimore office.

He will serve as a senior portfolio manager to families, non-profits and other institutions nationally and globally.

Bartlett was head of global equity sales and trading at Wells Fargo in New York, where he was responsible for 250 employees in trading, sales trading and domestic and international institutional sales. He was a board member of its broker dealer, Wells Fargo Securities International Ltd., and was part of the Wells Fargo Securities management committee.

He joined Wells Fargo at the end of 2008 as part of Wachovia Securities. Before joining First Union in 1999, Bartlett spent 12 years at Alex. Brown & Sons as a managing director and senior trader.

“As our firm continues to grow rapidly, we are constantly seeking and attracting senior investment professionals from a variety of backgrounds who can bring a combination of first-rate performance, strategic advice, and service to our private clients,” Michael D. Hankin, Brown Advisory's president and CEO, said in a press release. “Chris brings those skills, and he will also contribute as a strong leader in the firm and a member of the management team.”

Brown Advisory, which has $31 billion in assets under management, has offices in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Boston, Wilmington, Del., Chapel Hill, N.C., and London. The Firm’s institutional and private clients are based in 49 states and 18 countries.
