Equity Funds Cut Losses by Nearly Half

Total estimated outflows from long-term mutual funds were $4.49 billion for the week ended Wednesday, December 19, according to data from the Investment Company Institute.

Equity funds had estimated outflows of $4.93 billion for the week, compared to estimated outflows of $8.48 billion in the previous week. Domestic equity funds had estimated outflows of $5.22 billion, while estimated inflows to world equity funds were $292 million.

Hybrid funds had estimated inflows of $11 million for the week, compared to estimated inflows of $119 million in the previous week and bond funds had estimated inflows of $431 million, compared to estimated inflows of $1.79 billion during the previous week. Taxable bond funds saw estimated inflows of $3.69 billion, while municipal bond funds had estimated outflows of $3.26 million.
