Stifel has expanded its presence in southern California with the addition of an advisor with $114 million in assets.
The St. Louis-based firm has hired Ron Oliver as vice president/investments at the Irvine Spectrum, Calif. office, which is just south of Los Angeles.
Oliver is a 25-year industry veteran and began his career at Lehman Brothers. He later transferred to Smith Barney and ended up at Morgan Stanley through successive mergers.
He will report to Susan Dixon, senior vice president/investments and branch manager.
Stifel also recently added three advisors on the east coast and opened a new office in Clearwater, Fla. Industry veterans Gerard (Jerry) Kelly III, Mark Smith, and Arleen Doran brought over $243 million in combined assets when they joined in February. Smith also came from Morgan Stanley while Kelly and Doran joined from Milwaukee-based brokerage Baird.
As of the end of 2012, Stifel reported having 2,041 advisors.
