An Aug. 24 article stated in error that FINRA said it would rebuff a request for records contained in a lawsuit by Amerivet Securities. In fact, in an interview last week, a FINRA spokesman declined to comment on the Amerivet matter. The error arose when a reporter for Financial Planning mistook a statement about FINRA’s general practices as a specific response to questions about the suit. In the interview, the spokesman said that, as a matter of policy, FINRA's records are not open to the public. The article, published on the websites of Financial Planning, On Wall Street and Bank Investment Consultant, has since been removed. We regret the error.
