Baird has recruited a veteran financial team from Morgan Stanley Smith Barney to establish its first office in North Carolina.
Jon S. Bolton, J. Stephen Rowell, C. Scott Wray, E. Lee Cain, and Jeff Trollinger previously oversaw a combined $267 million in client assets.
Bolton has 27 years of industry experience at Legg Mason and Smith Barney.
Rowell, Wray and Cain also worked at Legg Mason and Smith Barney. They are joined by Trollinger, who comes from Valic Financial Advisors in Greensboro, N.C, according to FINRA filings.
The new private wealth office is the latest move by the firm to increase its presence in North Carolina. In July, Baird opened a public finance office in Winston-Salem, and in October 2008 established its first investment banking office in Charlotte, N.C.
