Barclays Wealth has hired 14 new investment representatives as part of its U.S. expansion.
The new hires have taken posts in New York, Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Boston.
In New York, Barclays has added Steven Sweetwood, Robert Meenan and Shlomi Yedid. They will report to New York Regional Manager Mark Stevenson.
Sweetwood comes to Barclays from JP Morgan, a firm he joined in 2008 with its acquisition of Bear Stearns, where he was a senior managing director.
Robert Meenan joins Barclays after serving for five years at Merrill Lynch. Before that, Meenan served as a sales director for SMC Corp. of America.
Yedid also comes from Merrill Lynch, where he served as a wealth management advisor after previous positions in alternative investments, equity research and investment banking at Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Societe Generale.
In Miami, Barclays has hired Louis Tinoco and Ruben Lesmes, who both report to Miami Regional Manager Marilyn Gonzalez.
Tinoco joins Barclays from UBS, where he has worked since 2005. Prior to that, he was an advisor in the Miami offices of Atlas One Financial and Lehman Brothers.
Lesmes most recently served at HSBC as a manager working with Latin America private banking clients. He has also worked at ABN AMRO Bank and Merrill Lynch International Bank focusing on Latin American high net worth clients.
In San Francisco, Barclays has added Alex Witherill, Matt Hodus, Christopher Bender, John Shaw and Peter Kong to its team. All five report to San Francisco Regional Manager Doug Ireland.
Witherill joins Barclays from Credit Suisse, where he served ultra high net worth clients after joining the firm in 2004, and has also served at Lehman Brothers in private investment management.
Hodus also comes from Credit Suisse, which he also joined in 2004. Prior to that, he served at Lehman Brothers in San Francisco and Lebenthal and Co. in New York.
Bender previously served at Thomas Weisel Partners as lead portfolio manager and head of fixed income in private client services. He has also worked at UBS in positions including senior municipal trader.
Shaw joins Barclays from Thomas Weisel Partners, where he has advised high net worth clients since 1999.
Kong also joins from Thomas Weisel Partners, where he has advised high net worth clients since 2000.
In Los Angeles, Barclays has hired Ron Jacoby, Larry Roth and Gerald Gallagher, who all report to Los Angeles Regional Manager Brian Sears.
