Very insightful information in this article. Trying to sell an eponymous firm where the founder is retiring has often been shown to actually reduce the value of the company to new buyers (unless one or more of them share the same name). Advisors who are not independent now but are considering that route at some point in the future would be well-served to take this article's examples to heart. It could save them a great deal of time and money for when they are ready to break away.
