Northern Trust has promoted Darius Gill to managing director of Foundation & Institutional Advisors, the bank’s investment advisory and asset servicing group for middle-market non-profit institutions. He will be responsible for the group’s Central Region, which includes Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Missouri and Wisconsin, the bank announced Thursday.

Gill previously managed a team of portfolio managers as a senior investment officer in the group. In his new role, he will oversee the growth of the business, which currently serves more than 160 clients with assets under management of approximately $5 billion, according to Northern Trust.

Gill joined Northern Trust in 2007 as a senior portfolio manager. Prior to that, he served as a chief investment officer at Cole Taylor Bank. He has more than two decades of investment experience working with both institutional and wealth management clients, Northern Trust said.
