In the newly created position, Hedstrom, who started at the Kansas City, Mo., company on Monday, serves on its leadership committee, reporting to David Lubchenco, an executive vice president of distribution.
Hedstrom was the director of marketing for Ameriprise Advisor Services Inc. Before that, he was the head of marketing for H&R Block Financial Advisors. He spent 13 years in product marketing and development positions at ING and American Express Financial Advisors.
In his new role, Hedstrom will direct marketing strategy, develop product and distribution support, and manage client communications for the $20 billion institutional asset manager. He will also be responsible for implementing Scout’s previously announced rebranding efforts, which will include industry advertising, local sponsorships, and conference opportunities.
Scout, the investment subsidiary of UMB Financial Corp., offers equity and fixed income investment management strategies for institutions and individual investors through separate accounts and mutual funds.
