TD Ameritrade Inc. has expanded its mobile trading offerings with the launch of a new iPad trading platform for its clients.

The iPad offering includes a new free application that allows for the trading of equities, futures, forex and options from the device. TD Ameritrade already offers apps for iPhone, Blackberry, Android and Windows mobile devices. TD Ameritrade’s mobile trading has increased by 125 percent in the past year, according to the firm.

“The numbers certainly highlight the fact that today’s traders crave greater mobility, and we’re here to ensure they have an unparalleled experience,” said Nicole Sherrod, managing director of TD Ameritrade’s trading group.

The launch comes as the financial services industry, alongside the health care industry, had the highest iPad adoption rate from September through December 2010, according to the Good Technology Device Activations Report for the fourth quarter.
