UBS Wealth Management Americas has hired Morgan Stanley Smith Barney executive Jon Mallon as director and branch manager for its Santa Rosa, Calif. office.

Mallon previously served as chief operating officer of the Western division at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. Mallon has spent most of his career at Morgan Stanley, starting from 1992, and re-joined the firm in 2007 after serving as a regional sales manager at Lehman Brothers.

In his new role, Mallon will manage the Santa Rosa office, work with clients, and expand UBS’ platform targeting clients including individuals, families, business owners and corporate clients.

“We have a lot of momentum in our business and are pleased that Jon has joined UBS to further enhance our presence in Santa Rosa/Sonoma County,” UBS San Jose Complex Director John Jaber said in a written statement. “As an experienced leader and a seasoned financial advisor, Jon brings significant management and client experience, as well as his involvement to this community. He will play a critical role in helping to further develop the firm’s business locally.”
